BSF jawans, deployed under the South Bengal Frontier, successfully foiled the plans of smugglers and seized 3.090 kg of ganja in the Indo-Bangladesh International Border area, within their area of responsibility. The smugglers were attempting to smuggle the ganja from India to Bangladesh.
The incident occurred on the night of June 7, 2023, at 22:30 hours near the Border Out Post Tenpur, which falls under the jurisdiction of the 84th Battalion of BSF. Acting on credible intelligence, the vigilant jawans on duty detected suspicious activity and immediately cordoned off the area, initiating a thorough search operation. However, taking advantage of the dense bushes, the smugglers managed to flee the scene. After thorough search of the spot, the jawans successfully recovered 3.090 kg of ganja.
The seized contraband was handed over to the Murutia Police Station for further legal proceedings.
The Commanding Officer of the 84th Battalion emphasized that the BSF will not tolerate any form of smuggling or criminal activities along the border and will take stringent action against those involved.
