On June 9, 2023, alert jawans from the Border Outpost Pipali, 05 Battalion, operating under the South Bengal Frontier, successfully seized 16 plastic bags containing fish eggs within their area of responsibility. The market value of the seized fish eggs is estimated at Rs. 80,000/-. These smugglers were attempting to smuggle the fish eggs from India to Bangladesh.

Significantly, the Pipali border outpost received information regarding a significant quantity of fish eggs being smuggled within their jurisdiction. In response, the troops increased their vigilance and initiated a thorough search operation. The search party noticed some smugglers swiftly moving towards the border. The jawans pursued and confronted the smugglers. As the troops approached, the smugglers, overwhelmed by fear, abandoned their illicit goods and fled, taking advantage of the nearby paddy field. The jawans successfully seized the fish eggs from the location.

The seized items were handed over to Gaya ghata Police Station for further legal action.

The Commanding Officer of the 05 Battalion stated that the Border Security Force personnel consistently fulfill their duties along the international border with promptness, and no acts of smugglers can escape their attention. He further emphasized that smugglers may employ various tactics, but the vigilant BSF jawans always thwart their efforts.
