CONSULTATION MEETING ON BAMBOO CHAIN DEVELOPMENT IN THE NORTHEST WITH INDUSTRY OWNERS IN MIZORAM

A consultation meeting on the establishment of Integrated bamboo Development Park in Mizoram and other Bamboo Value Chain Development initiatives between the government of Mizoram and the owner of five bamboo based Industry owners in Mizoram was held at CM Conference Hall under the chair of Chief Minister of Mizoram Zoramthanga.

On this meeting the Chief Minister said that since all of our existing bamboo based Industry in Mizoram are furniture oriented plant which need bigger and thicker bamboo materials that are unable be fed with our natural bamboo supply. The purpose of today’s meeting is how to utilize our natural bamboo stock at the maximum benefit of the state as well as the country. In order to find such a solution the government is now consulting with the experienced entrepreneurs, he added.

K. Lalthawmmawia, Commissioner & Secretary, Horticulture Department highlighted some guidelines made by the funding authority National Bamboo Missions and Asian Development bank for the project. He said that establishment of Integrated Bamboo Development Park in five states in the Northeast for a chain development aiming circular economy with zero waste is the main purpose of the project.

The meeting decided that those experienced bamboo based factory owners shall, within a timeframe submit their proposal of how to utilized the abundant supply of Bamboo in Mizoram. They are also ask, if necessary to cooperate any other Company within or outside India that can be integrated within the initiatives of the National Bamboo Mission Value Chain Development in the Northeast.
