Born and raised in Lalabazar, 2010 to 2014 was a memorable period. Due to my career, I tried to settle in many places in eastern and northeastern India. I tried to settle in Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Siliguri, and Agartala.
Finally, I chose Guwahati for settlement, known as the “Gateway to the Northeast.”
There are various reasons why I am fond of Guwahati.
Never found intimacy like other cities: When I started my journey in 2015, I did not know anyone in this City. But now the people of this City always have a supportive attitude. This City has hope, solidarity, cooperation, and a shared feeling among the present generation.
City of Photographers: This City may be called one of the famous Cities of picturesque hills, temples, plains, and rivers, which may be the best attraction for those who especially focus on photography. Never miss to capture the sunset on the river Brahmaputra.
City of Temples: This City which is also called the “City of Temples”. If you want to visits in Guwahati never forget to visits the temples like Kamakhya, Umananda, Balaji, Basistha, Maa Bagalamukhi Temple, Bhubabeswari temples.
Never miss festive seasons: The most notable festival season here is the Bohag Bihu, which begins the Assamese New Year and falls on April 14 and 15 every year. This festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and encourages the traditional culture of Assam. If you stay in Guwahati, never miss this season. Never miss the Rest Camp, Gitanagar, and the Lal Ganesh area in Durga Puja.
Never miss ISL Football in Guwahati: If you stay in Guwahati during the ISL season, no doubt in your mind, go to Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, also known as Sarusajai Stadium, and enjoy Northeast United FC Football. You may see how their supporters support their local club at this time.
But it’s also true that Guwahati needs to change and change more.
Need more public toilets: When I stayed in Kolkata, I found that every 200 to 300 meters, Kolkata Municipal Corporation built a toilet. But if you round Guwahati, you find only 10 to 15 toilets. People are facing lots of problems with it.
Floating of water: This City’s main problem, but no one can solve it. For many years, Guwahati has suffered from urban floods caused by waterlogging in its catchment area after heavy rainfall. People of the entire Guwahati are facing this problem.
Traffic problem: Guwahati’s traffic system is not as smart as other cities in eastern and northeastern India, like Kolkata and Agartala. You find traffic jams every day busiest places of the city. Need to focus on traffic problem.
