On December 16, 2023, the Border Security Force (BSF) South Bengal Frontier commemorated Victory Day at the Frontier Headquarters in Rajarhat, Kolkata, marking the anniversary of the 1971 war victory against Pakistan. A total of 145 officers, subordinate officers, and jawans actively participated in the commemorative program.
The event commenced by highlighting BSF’s pivotal role in the 1971 war, emphasizing its contribution to training Mukti Bahini and aiding in the liberation of Bangladesh. The commendable efforts of BSF on both the western and eastern fronts during the conflict were acknowledged.
As part of the program, a documentary showcasing BSF’s role in the Bangladesh Liberation War provided a historical perspective on its significant contributions to national security and commitment to ensuring the safety of the border population.
Patriotic songs and cultural performances added vibrancy and spirit to the celebration, reflecting the rich traditions and diversity within the BSF community.
In his closing remarks, Inspector General Ayush Mani Tiwari, IPS, shed light on the contemporary role of BSF in maintaining border security. He outlined strategies to tackle challenges posed by smugglers, miscreants, and illegal immigrants, emphasizing the integration of technology and manpower.
