Metro Railway has carried 5,21,980 passengers on Christmas, on 25th December.
Metro has carried 4,96,762 passengers in Blue Line which have been 24,200 more than last year’s count. On 25th December maximum passenger count 52,751 have been recorded at Dumdum. Esplanade and Rabindra Sadan recorded 42,287 and 33,112 passenger count respectively. Last year on Christmas, these two stations recorded 41,937 and 31,900 passenger count respectively. Park Street recorded 37,058 passenger count. On last year Christmas, this count was 18,990 . 194 services (97 UP & 97 DN) were run to manage the Christmas rush in Blue Line.
In order to provide better services and ensure passenger safety, Metro Railway strengthened its security arrangements by deploying extra RPF officers and staff at Park Street, Maidan and Esplanade stations. Lady RPF staff were also deployed to ensure safety and security of ladies and children. Station staff also worked tirelessly to provide best services to Metro users. Additional booking counters were opened at Park Street, Maidan, Esplanade and Rabindra Sadan stations. Adequate number of staff were deployed at different Metro stations to provide proper guidance to the commuters.
In Green Line 24,743 passengers and in Purple Line 475 passengers were carried on Christmas.
