Assam Rifles recovered 42.250 gms of Heroin No 4 worth Rs. 21,12,500/- in general area Bethlehem Vengthlang, Aizawl district on 18 January 2024 and apprehended two individuals and 10 Soap Cases of Heroin No-3 worth Rs. 81,20,000/- in general area Tialdawngi-Lung, Lawngtlai district on 19 Jan 2024 and apprehended three individuals.
The recovered consignment and apprehended individuals were handed over to the Special Narcotics Police Station, CID (Crime), Aizawl and Excise Dept Siaha respectively for further legal proceedings.
Ongoing smuggling of illegal drugs is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram and India. Assam Rifles, rightly christened as the ‘Sentinels of Northeast’ have continued their efforts against illegal drug trafficking and have also doubled their efforts to nab the kingpins of the drug racket in Mizoram.
