In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, Assam Rifles recovered Heroin No 4 weighing 63 gm and 05 kg Marijuana from two different operations in Zokhawthar and old Vaikhawtlang on 26 February .
In the first operation 39 grams heroin no 4 worth Rupees 27.3 Lakh was recovered from general area Melbuk Road Junction, Zokhawthar, Champhai district and three individuals apprehended on 26 February 2024.The operation was carried out by a combined team of Assam Rifles along with rep of Police Department Zokhawthar based on specific information.
In another operation 24 grams of Heroin No 4 with approx cost of Rs12,00,000 and 5kg of Marijuana with approx cost Rs 5,00,000 were recovered in General Area Old Vaikhawtlang and one Myanmar national was arrested.
The entire consignment of Heroin No 4 and Marijuana worth Rupees 42,30,000/- (Rupees Forty Two lakh Thirty Thousand only) and recovered consignment along with apprehended individuals have been handed over to Police Department for further legal proceedings.
Ongoing smuggling of contraband items is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram and India.
