ASSAM RIFLES FOILS ILLEGAL TIMBER SMUGGLING IN CHANDEL DISTRICT

Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) foiled illegal timber smuggling on 15 March 2024, when vigilant troops of the Assam Rifles established Mobile Vehichle Check Posts at general area Wamku Jn and Mongsang Panth of Chandel District and intercepted six vehicles carrying timber logs along with ten individuals.

The captured vehicles alongwith the timber and individuals were handed over to the District Forest Officer, Chandel for further investigation.

ASSAM RIFLES ASSISTS DRIVER TO RECOVER A TOPPLED VEHICLE AT MOULHOI VILLAGE, CHURACHANDPUR DISTRICT, MANIPUR

In response to a distress call, Assam Rifles under the aegis Headquaters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) assisted a driver to recover his toppled vehicle in village Moulhoi, Churachandpur district on 14 March 2024.

The vehicle had gone off the road and fallen into a Nalah about five metres below the road level. Responding to the urgent distress call by Village Chief and the driver, Assam rifles team along with a recovery vehicle and JCB immediately reached at the incident site and after hours of continuous efforts successfully retrieved the vehicle.

All the locals and the driver expressed deep gratitude for the timely support by the Assam Rifles during the hour of need.

ASSAM RIFLES PAYS TRIBUTE TO BRAVEHEART IN CHURACHANDPUR DISTRICT, MANIPUR

Remembering the supreme sacrifice of its Braveheart Rifleman Gamar Bahadur BK, Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) organised a solemn “Wreath Laying Ceremony” and paid homage to the martyr at Kangvai, District-Churachandpur (Manipur) on 15 March 2024.

Rifleman Gamar Bahadur BK was part of a Road Opening Party in general area Moreh, when the party was ambushed by inimical elements on 15 March 2013. Rifleman Gamar Bahadur BK alongwith other members of the Road Opening Party effectively retaliated the attack. However the brave soldier sustained multiple splinter injuries due to twin improvised explosive device blasts at the ambush site and later succumbed to his injuries, laying down his life in supreme sacrifice for the Nation.

The event was attended by all Ranks of the Battalion who paid tribute to the Braveheart and remembered his outstanding service to the nation. The Battalion also prayed for the departed soul and observed two minutes of silence on the occasion.
