The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N. F.Railway successfully rescued 16 minors during ongoing checking & drives conducted from 13th to 19th April, 2024 at different trains and railway stations over N. F. Railway. The CPRO of N.F.Railway Sabyasachi De said a press release by Northeast Frontier Railway on Sunday.
During the period of 2023-24, 654 minors (409 boys & 245 girls) and 69 women were rescued by RPF of NFR in coordination with Government Railway Police (GRP) and Childline/NGOs. The rescued children/women were handed over to respective Child Line/NGOs & GRP for further legal proceedings. Also, during the same period a total of 12 human traffickers were arrested and 32 persons (25 minor boys, 4 minor girls, 2 male & 01 female) were rescued from them.
The CPRO of N.F.Railway Sabyasachi De said in an incident of 18th April, 2024, RPF team of Katihar, rescued three destitute minor boys at Katihar Railway station. Later, the rescued minors were handed over to their respective parents after proper verification. On 16th April, 2024, RPF team of Chaparmukh, while conducting check in train no. 15625 (Deoghar – Agartala Express) at Chaparmukh station rescued one runaway minor girl. Later, the rescued minor was handed over to Child Welfare Committee, Nagaon, Assam for safe custody.
Preventive measures are being taken to take action in case children in need of care and protection are found in trains and railway premises. RPF carries on a relentless fight against criminals in protecting railway passengers, remains vigilant for suspected persons involved in human trafficking as well as the movement of children in a suspicious manner, travelling alone, without proper guardian .
