CYCLONE REMAL UPDATE: COMMENDABLE INITIATIVE BY INDIAN ARMY AND ASSAM RIFLES IN CONDUCTING THE RESCUE OPERATION IN NORTH EAST REGION

The Indian Army and Assam Rifles are conducting extensive relief and rescue operations in the flood like situation caused due to torrential rains during cyclone Remal in the states of Manipur and Mizoram. Indian Army and Assam Rifles swiftly responded to the request of the civil administration on 27 May 2024 and commenced the operations within an hour demonstrating its unwavering commitment to providing immediate relief and support to affected citizens.

Till reports last received on 30 May 2024, the forces have successfully rescued a total of over 4000 individuals from affected areas in Manipur including over 1500 women, 800 children.

In addition to the rescue efforts, the both the forces distributed food packets to ensure that the affected population has access to essential supplies. Drinking water too was provided to numerous households to address the urgent need for clean water. The Army medical teams on the ground have treated a total of 102 individuals, including 23 men, 55 women, and 24 children.

In Mizoram, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles has also been active, where medical aid and provision of food and water has been extended to people affected due to landslide. Over 25 individuals including women have been treated by Army medical teams. The Indian Army remains committed to saving lives, providing essential supplies, and delivering medical aid to those in need. The operations are being carried out with the utmost efficiency and urgency to ensure the safety and well-being of all affected individuals.
