A review meeting for the Department of Women and Child Development (WCD) of West Kameng District was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall in Bomdila. The meeting was chaired by Akriti Sagar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of West Kameng District.
The programme began with a welcome speech by the Deputy Director of WCD, Bomdila, followed by PowerPoint presentations from all CDPOs, the Centre Administrator of the One Stop Centre (OSC) and the Protection Officer from the DCPU.
Sagar directed all officers and officials to incorporate new elements and innovations into Tech Vadi. She emphasized liaising with the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments to create vermi compost facilities at Tech Vadi, enabling children to learn practically.
Additionally, she suggested signing an MoU with these departments for the seasonal supply and planting of five plants at Tech Vadi for Poshan Vatika. Further directives included coordinating with other departments to install solar lights, wash basins, and rainwater harvesting systems at Tech Vadi. She also recommended stocking Inter Tribe books and YouTube videos for children.
DC emphasized the importance of conducting thorough grassroots surveys to ensure no child or beneficiary is excluded from WCD schemes. She urged CDPOs to collaborate with administrative officers for Aadhaar enrollment during Village Health, Sanitation, and Nutrition Days (VHSND). In cases involving children of daily wage laborers in Anganwadi Centres, she advised seeking support from panchayat leaders, businessmen, and politicians to fund their education.
For addressing domestic violence, the Centre Administrator of OSC was directed to coordinate with the District Medical Officer (DMO), Bomdila, for rescue operations and to work with police officers and the judicial department to resolve issues faced by the centre.
To enhance performance, Sagar announced a written exam and competition for all supervisors in West Kameng District, with awards for the best performers. She praised the hard work of the officers and officials of the department and encouraged them to continue their efforts.
