Like every year, this year also the 10th International Yoga Day to be celebrated on 21st June is on the theme of *Yoga for self and society*. Today, under the Border Security Force (BSF) South Bengal Frontier, Kolkata, Berhampur and Malda Sector Headquarters, all battalion headquarters and border outposts organized important yoga camps in the surrounding border villages. Thousands of local elders, youth and children along with BSF officers and jawans participated in these yoga programs organized extensively by BSF.
ADG Eastern Command Shri Ravi Gandhi along with Shri Ayush Mani Tiwari, IPS, IG Frontier Headquarters South Bengal and other senior officers of BSF and members of BSF Wives Welfare Association (BAWA) attended the Yoga Camp at Tagore Villa Complex, Sector Headquarters Kolkata. Jawans and Officers of Sector Headquarters Krishnanagar, children from Shankar Mission Orphanage, Krishnanagar and Seema Parhari along with their families participated in the Yoga Camp.
Under the guidance of trained Yoga instructors of BSF, these comprehensive Yoga Camps organised in the border areas of all Battalions were aimed at not only promoting Yoga but also educating the local elders, youth and children about its origin, definitions and benefits of Ashtanga Yoga in particular. These sessions organised at a comprehensive level included detailed discussions on the holistic benefits of Yoga practice for mental and physical health.
During the Yoga Camp, the attendees were guided through sessions of subtle exercises, Yoga postures (asanas), and mainly focused on Pranayama (breathing exercises). The holistic approach towards Yoga during this programme resulted in mental and physical benefits and reduced stress for all the participants.

Arya, DIG, Public Relations Officer of BSF South Bengal Frontier highlighted the importance of Yoga in promoting a healthy lifestyle and also emphasized the significance of Yoga in promoting mental clarity and physical fitness among BSF personnel and the community. Such initiatives are important in fostering a harmonious environment and promoting cultural understanding through practices like Yoga.
