Maninder Partap Singh Pawar, IPS takes over as IG, South Bengal Frontier, BSF

Maninder Partap Singh Pawar,IPS has officially taken over as the new Inspector General (IG) of South Bengal Frontier, BSF. He will replace Ayush Mani Tiwari, who has been transferred to the BSF Headquarters, New Delhi.

Pawar, a 2005 batch IPS officer of Gujarat cadre, joined Indian Police Service on 22 August 2005. He was awarded by the Honorable PM of India as the second best probationer of his batch. Shri Pawar has served as SP in five districts and Range Head of Junagadh, demonstrating his expertise in handling serious cases, crime prevention and maintaining law and order. In Gujarat, he headed the Economic Offences Wing of the CID. He also supervised cybercrimes, wildlife crimes and has expertise on disaster management & incident command system. Additionally, he served in the ATS as an SP and has experience handling all the special operations groups in the districts and the city.

 Pawar joined elite Border Security Force on central deputation on 18/08/2022 and was appointed as DIG(confidential & vigilance) at FHQ BSF, New Delhi. He has held important posts including IG (HQ) at the force headquarters after his promotion as IG. Since August 2022, while posted at BSF Force Headquarters in New Delhi, he oversaw new and evolving technologies within the BSF and their application at the borders. He gained experience in the use of drones, it’s challenges, and counter-drone solutions at the border.

He has been awarded four Director General Commendation Roll (BSF), DGP Gujarat Commendation Roll and President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service on Republic Day 2024.

After taking charge, Pawar held confrence with all officers and reviewed border operations. He stressed on maintaining border supremacy, thwarting any nefarious activity and continuing welfare schemes for personnel. He stated that the primary focus will be to curb smuggling, infiltration and other border crimes as well as enhance coordination between the BSF and the local population.
