BSF officers held coordination meetings with officials of West Bengal Government and villagers of border area

BSF Officers of 08 Battalion and 107 Battalion of BSF South Bengal Frontier held a coordination meeting with the officials of West Bengal Government and people of border villages with the aim of establishing coordination with border communities and local officials. In this connection, the first meeting was held at Border Outpost Bornberia, 8th Battalion BSF jawans with the officials of West Bengal Government including SDO and SDM of Ranaghat, BDO of Hanskhali, DSP (Border) West Bengal, BL and LRO officers, Assistant Agriculture Director of Hanskhali and Sabhapati/Sarpanch of Hanskhali village, Panchayat members.

The key issues discussed in the meeting held at 08 Battalion of BSF included management of tall crops in border areas, problem of jute dumping by civilians near the border, civilian movement on border roads after curfew and land acquisition for fencing in unfenced areas. The meeting emphasised the importance of addressing these issues to maintain border security and community safety.

Besides, border coordination meetings were held with local villagers at border outposts Uttarpara and Mustafapur of 107 Battalion BSF. The discussion focused on the prevailing situation after the change of power in Bangladesh and the Bangladeshi Army taking over. The BSF emphasised the need for vigilance to prevent infiltration and smuggling activities. The villagers were advised not to move freely in the border areas and on the International Border Road (IBBR) during night hours. It was also decided that all shops in the market should be closed by 2100 hrs and announcements would be made from mosques that villagers should stay away from the border areas. The farmers were instructed to use the gate only for essential work and were assured of immediate assistance from the BSF if required.

The BSF emphasised the importance of maintaining good relations between the force and the local civilian population, underlining its commitment towards the safety and cooperation of the community.
