In observance of World Humanitarian Day on 19th August 2024, Assam Rifles, conducted a series of humanitarian activities across various regions in Manipur, reaffirming its commitment to the welfare of the local populace.
At New Samtal and Sehlon villages, Assam Rifles took proactive steps to enhance the quality of life for the villagers. The distribution of solar lights to the locals, combined with a career counseling program for the youth, highlighted the day’s efforts. Additionally, the maintenance and repair of tracks and roads, damaged by heavy rains, was carried out to ensure smoother transportation, providing much-needed relief to the residents of Sehlon.
Simultaneously, Assam Rifles extended its outreach to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp at Mata Village in Churachandpur District. Recognizing the pressing needs of those displaced, the unit distributed ration and relief material, alongside sanitary napkins for the women in the camp, a gesture facilitated by the Riflewomen. The efforts were met with heartfelt appreciation from the camp authorities and the village chief, who lauded the Assam Rifles for its unwavering dedication to societal betterment.
Assam Rifles also roped in the youth of Churachandpur and organised a Lecture and Interaction Meet with local youth on this occasion at Langza Village, Churachandpur District, Manipur on 19 August 2024. The lecture aimed at inspiring youth for working towards a humane and compassionate world and kindle empathy among them to work towards alleviating human suffering. The lecture was specifically aimed at enlightening the youth about the aspects of World Humanitarian Day and about the people involved in humanitarian assistance across the country. A total of 45 youth attended the lecture and interacted to understand the significance of humanitarian efforts.
Through these initiatives, Assam Rifles has not only provided essential aid but has also further cemented the bond between the local populace and the security forces, fostering a sense of normalcy and trust in these challenging times.
ASSAM RIFLES CELEBRATES RAKSHA BANDHAN WITH ENTHUSIASM AND COMMUNITY SPIRIT IN KAKCHING DISTRICT
In a heartwarming display of unity and tradition, Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) celebrated Raksha Bandhan at Kakching Garrison, Kakching District on 19 August 2024. The event was graced by the enthusiastic participation of Assam Rifles troops, local residents of Kakching, and members of the Swami Vivekananda Kendra, Manipur Vibhag.
The celebration was not just about the tying of rakhis, but about building a deeper sense of belonging and mutual respect. Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Swami Vivekananda Kendra and local civil society Organizations, has worked diligently to promote social harmony, the acceptance of all faiths, and the nurturing of strong moral values within the community.
Through the joyous festival of Raksha Bandhan, Assam Rifles endeavoured to bring social workers and the local population together, creating an atmosphere of peace and understanding. This celebration not only reinforced the bond between the local populace and Assam Rifles but also provided a much-needed sense of normalcy in the region, reminding everyone of the strength found in unity.
