Defence Correspondence Course (DCC) – 2024 Participants Get Hands-on Experience of Indian Army’s Vigilance in Jammu and Kashmir

The Directorate of Public Relations (DPR), Ministry of Defence, Government of India, is conducting the Defence Correspondence Course (DCC) – 2024, a unique initiative to educate select participants about the Indian Defence Forces. After completing the Navy and Air Force legs, the 34 participants from across India arrived in Jammu and Kashmir on 01 September 2024 for the final and most challenging leg of the course.

During their forward area visit in Jammu and Kashmir, the participants are gaining first-hand experience of the Indian Army’s operations, weapons, and equipment in the challenging terrain along the Line of Control (LoC) at Jhangar and Hamirpur in Rajouri and Poonch Sectors, where they witnessed the vigilant efforts of Indian soldiers in protecting the nation’s borders.

The participants were also provided with an in-depth view of the operational challenges faced by the army in counter-insurgency scenarios through a visit to key army locations in Surankote, a region that has been focal point of counter-insurgency for years.

This immersive experience aims to provide participants with a deeper understanding of the Indian Army’s role in maintaining national security and the sacrifices made by soldiers in difficult environments. The course participants will carry this knowledge back to their respective fields, promoting a better understanding of India’s defence forces among the public.

DCC – 2024 is a testament to the Ministry of Defence’s commitment to fostering greater awareness and appreciation for India’s defence forces. The course will conclude with a comprehensive understanding of the Indian Defence Forces, equipping participants to share their experiences and insights with a wider audience.
