Assam Rifles successfully apprehended two active cadres of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) in separate operations along the Indo-Myanmar Border (IMB) in Tengnoupal District.
Based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of insurgents in the general area between Kwatha and H. Mongjang, Tengnoupal District on 11 September 2024, an ambush was laid wherein the troops spotted suspicious movement in the jungle. Acting swiftly, the troops cut off the escape routes, leading to the apprehension of one cadre. On questioning, the cadre admitted his affiliation with the insurgent group PREPAK.
Later, on the same day, Assam Rifles launched another intelligence based operation in the general area of Point 422 along the Indo-Myanmar Border (near Moreh). Extensive searches were conducted in the area, during which another cadre was apprehended from a nullah in the jungle. The individual revealed that he also was affiliated to the insurgent group PREPAK and that he had joined it in April 2024. Both cadres have been handed over to Manipur Police for further legal proceedings.
These successful operations highlight the unwavering commitment of Assam Rifles to maintaining peace and security in the region by neutralizing insurgent activities along the sensitive border areas.
