Mobile internet services in Assam will be suspended on September 29, 2024, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
This measure is to ensure the smooth conduct of the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE), which involves over 734,000 candidates across 822 centers off Assam.
The written examination is being conducted in different examination centres covering 27 districts of Assam on Sunday.
The government aims to prevent cheating and maintain public safety during the exam. Voice calls and broadband services will remain operational during this period.
The suspension of mobile internet/ mobile data/ mobile wi-fi connectivity will be in place from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm, an official release said on Saturday.
The Assam Education Minister of Assam Ranoj Pegu informed it on X on Saturday. Pegu wrote on X, ” The written exams for Class-III posts under SLRC will be held on 29th Sept 2024 in two shifts (9 AM-12 PM & 1:30 PM-4:30 PM). A massive 7,34,080 candidates will appear. To ensure fairness, mobile internet services will be suspended from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM across Assam. Let’s all work together to keep the process transparent and secure the future of our youth.”
Earlier on September 15, 2024, Mobile internet services were suspended for three-and-a-half hours when the first phase of the written examination for Grade III posts was conducted.
Violation of the promulgation will be punishable under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and also under the relevant Provision of the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885.
