BSF organises awareness programme on prevention of human trafficking in Border areas of Nadia District

BSF Anti Human Trafficking Unit, Gede (AHTU), 32 Batttalion of BSF South Frontier organised an impressive awareness programme on prevention of human trafficking in collaboration with “Sreema Mahilasamiti” NGO and students of New Huda Digamber Pur PrimarySchool at Krishnaganj of Nadia District, in the area of responsibility of Border Outpost Kadipur of 32 Battalion under BSF South Bengal Frontier.

The programme began with a comprehensive lecture delivered by the team members of AHTU Gede of BSF along with representatives of “Sreema Mahila Samiti” NGO. The main objective of the lecture was to educate the attendees on important issues related to human trafficking including child marriage, child abuse, child labour, gender discrimination and potential dangers associated with social media. The speakers emphasised on the importance of awareness and proactive measures to prevent human trafficking.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the school community and other dignitaries with a total of 93 attendees including 42 students. The aim of the event was to empower the students and the local community with knowledge and tools to effectively combat human trafficking.

Speaking on the occasion, The Public Relations Officer of BSF South Bengal Frontier said that the initiative of BSF, AHTU Team of 32 Battalion in collaboration with “Sreema MahilaSamiti” NGO underlines the commitment of BSF and its partners to protect vulnerable populations and promote a safe society. The awareness programme is an important step towards the elimination of human trafficking and protection of human rights in the region.
