In a breathtaking race against time, Indian Railways turned what could have been a wedding disaster into a triumphant moment. In a remarkable display of efficiency and empathy, the Indian Railways went the extra mile to ensure that a marriage party of 35 passengers, including the groom, could catch their connecting train, Saraighat Express (12345), despite delays in their first train, Gitanjali Express (12859).
This exemplary act unfolded when Mr. Chandrashekhar Wagh, reached out to the Railways, explaining his critical situation. The group, traveling from Mumbai to Guwahati for the wedding, faced the prospect of missing their connecting train due to a 3-hour delay, jeopardizing their plans. The challenge was even greater as the group included elderly passengers.
The Indian Railways rose to the occasion, showcasing its commitment to service and efficiency. Under the guidance of the General Manager, Eastern Railway, and with the decisive actions and agility of DRM Howrah and SrDCM Howrah, the Saraighat Express was held briefly at Howrah Junction. This swift and compassionate decision ensured the entire party could continue their journey seamlessly.
Expressing his heartfelt thanks, Mr. Wagh said:
“This was not just a service but an act of immense kindness. Without this intervention, my family and I would have missed an irreplaceable moment in our lives. I am deeply grateful to the India Railways.”
