9 Panchayats from Assam and Tripura bag National Panchayat Awards 2024

The National Panchayat Awards Conferment Ceremony 2024, organized by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, will be held tomorrow at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. During this ceremony, the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, will confer the National Panchayat Awards upon 45 awardees across various categories, recognizing their exemplary contributions to sustainable and inclusive development.

From Assam, the Jengrai and Bebejia Demow Bangthai gram panchayats have been selected for this year’s National Panchayat Award. Jengrai gram panchayat under Majuli district has been chosen for the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar and will receive an award of ₹1 crore in the category of child friendly panchayat. Similarly, Bebejia Demow Bangthai gram panchayat under Nagaon district has been selected for the Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar and will receive an award of ₹1.25 crore for being the best gram panchayat.

From the state of Tripura seven gram panchayat have been selected for National Panchayat Awards. Betcherra, Rajkang, Debbari and South Manubankul have been selected under Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar. Likewise, Amarpur and Gomati gram panchayat are selected under Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar while Thakchara gram panchayat is selected for Gram Urja Swaraj Vishesh Panchayat Puraskar.
