Closing ceremony of Khelo India ASMITA football league

The ASMITA Football League’s Under-17 Women’s Tournament was held from December 22, 2024 to January 5, 2025, bringing together 210 young female footballers from across the region for an intense two-week tough competition with exciting and high-energy tournament.

The final match of the tournament was kicked off on January 5, 2025 by the Tokyo Olympic medallist and World champion Lovlina Borgohain in the august presence of Commonwealth Games Medallist Nayanmoni Saikia and D.K. Mittal, Executive Director, SAI RC Guwahati.

The tournament was started from December 22, 2024 at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Ground in Paltan Bazaar, Guwahati. The tournament featured total prize pool of Rs. 80,000, with an additional Rs. 3.66 Lakh allocated for technical conduct of the tournament.

The U-17 championship provided a competitive platform for emerging women footballers, across Assam where the athletes demonstrated their skills and potentially opened the doors for their future sporting opportunities. A total 6 all-women teams from across Assam participated in the league.

Khelo India Asmita Leagues are organised across 18 sports disciplines all over the country at inter-district, zonal, and national levels. Under the Promotion of Sports among Women component of the flagship Khelo India scheme, these leagues are organised specifically to provide additional avenues for increased participation.
