BSF thwarts Major attempt of illegal infiltration on India Bangladesh border in West Bengal, BSF drove back 24 Bangladeshis and 02 Rohingyas, In other operations, seizes Phensedyl, illegal medicines, 8 cattle

The vigilant jawans of various battalions of BSF South Bengal Frontier foiled the illegal infiltration on the India Bangladesh border of District North 24 Parganas and Nadia of West Bengal and drove back a total of 22 Bangladeshis and 02 Rohingyas to Bangladesh in various operations. Apart from this, they foiled many other attempts of smuggling and seized 565 bottles of Phensedyl, 03 kg of ganja and 2900 strips of quinine (quinine sulfate tab.ip), 700 injections of quinine dihydrochloride and 1200 artemether injections. In addition, 08 cattle were freed from the clutches of smugglers.

According to the information, on 11/01/2025, all the boat nakas were alerted on receipt of specific information of likely smuggling attempt of illegal drugs from the area of responsibility of border post CS Khali. During duty, the jawans saw suspicious activity of 01 smuggler with 01 polythene bag who was moving fast from the embankment towards the river from the Indian side. The jawan immediately ran towards the smuggler and challenged him to stop. Seeing the BSF jawan coming towards him, the smuggler panicked, threw the bag he carried on his head, ran towards the village and escaped taking advantage of the dense crops and fog. By then the boat naka also reached that place and during the search of the surrounding area a polythene bag was recovered. When the polythene bag was opened, two cartons were found , which contained a large quantity of illegal drugs.

While on the Indo-Bangladesh border of West Bengal, 20 Bangladeshi and 2 Rohingya in District North 24 Parganas and 04 Bangladeshi illegal intruders in Nadia dist were intercepted and driven back to Bangladesh. During questioning, it was found that most of them were going to Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad for housekeeping and labour work.

In other incidents on the same day, the jawans of BOP Mahdipur, Gopalnagar, Sabdalpur and Nawada of 119th Battalion posted on Indo-Bangladesh border of Malda district seized 565 bottles of Phensedyl from their respective areas of responsibility. Apart from this, the jawans of Border Outpost Pannapur of 88th Battalion rescued 08 cattle and the jawans of 115th Battalion rescued 03 cattle.

The seized goods have been handed over to the concerned department for further legal action and the rescued cattle will be handed over to Dhyan Foundation after e-tagging.

The Public Relations Officer of South Bengal Frontier said that BSF is taking strict measures to stop smuggling on the India-Bangladesh border and is alert to foil any attempts of infiltration.
