Mental Health Conclave will be held tomorrow at Raj Bhavan, Kolkata

The Governor of West Bengal, Dr. C. V. Ananda Bose, is pleased to host the inaugural Mental Health Conclave at Raj Bhavan, Kolkata, on Monday, January 20, 2025. This first-of-its-kind event aims to spotlight critical mental health issues and will welcome over 100 distinguished guests.

Recognizing the importance of mental health as a national priority, His Excellency has invited esteemed experts to share insights on the latest developments and challenges in mental health service delivery.

Key speakers include Dr. Laxmikant Rathi, President of the Indian Psychiatric Society, and Prof. B. N. Gangadhar, Chairman of the National Medical Commission.

Understanding the pivotal role of school students in shaping the future of India, His Excellency has extended a special invitation to Seema Sapru, Principal of The Heritage School, along with teachers and students from the institution. They will contribute to the event by participating in a panel discussion and presenting a dance drama highlighting mental health issues among students.

The conclave will feature two insightful panel discussions:

Stigma in Mental Health— Moderated by Dr. Gautam Saha, addressing societal stigma and ways to promote mental well-being.

School Mental Health — Moderated by Prof. Rajashree Ray, focusing on mental health challenges and solutions within the educational environment.

Prominent psychiatrists from Kolkata, representatives from universities, including Vice-Chancellors, faculty members, and students, will also actively participate in this significant one-day event.

This conclave underscores a collective commitment to fostering mental health awareness and creating a supportive environment for all.
