Continuing the momentum with previous ‘Sunday on Cycle’ editions, Sports Authority of India (SAI) Regional Centre Guwahati collaborated with Youth Journalist Association on January 26, 2025 for a Cycle rally to spread awareness and encourage more people to adapt cycling for a fitter and greener India.
The Sunday on Cycle initiative is the latest in a series of programmes conducted under the Fit India Movement to bring about behavioural changes among all towards physically active and healthy lifestyle.
On Sunday’s programme. coinciding with 76th Republic Day of the country, the newly elected secretary of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Sh. Devajit Saikia flagged off the Cycle Rally from the premise of National Centre of Excellence Guwahati (NCoE), SAI. Speaking on this occasion Mr. Saikiia appreciated this latest initiative towards a fit and green India and urged everyone to become part of this. A total of 150 people took part on Sunday’s event at SAI Paltan Bazar.
Also present in the event were Sh. D.K.Mittal, Executive Director of SAI Guwahati, Sh. Debanand Doley, Leiutenant Commander, and Anit Pratim Baruah, President YJA.
SAI Training Centre (STC) Kokrajhar also carried out a Cycle rally in collaboration with Trail of Rebels – a cycling club under Kokrajhar Cycling Association of Bodoland Territorial Region. The rally started from the premise of STC Kokrajhar and covered the route to NRL.
Since its nation-wide inauguration on 17th January 2025, the Sunday on Cycle event has seen participation of almost half-a-million people across the country. Cycling is one of the easiest ways to fit physical exercise into one’s daily routine and helps build strength in a holistic manner as every single part of the body is involved; building stamina and reducing stress.
