Tinsukia and Katihar Divisions achieve excellent operational performance in January 2025

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is working relentlessly round the clock to serve its customers and ensure the timely delivery of essential commodities to end users. Tinsukia and Katihar division made steady progress in freight loading and unloading, during the month of January 2025.

During the month of January, 2025, 0.1225 million tonnes of freight loading across various commodities in Tinsukia division took place which is an increase in 15.9% compared to the same period last year. A total of 273 wagons were loaded in a single day on 24th January, 2025. Similarly a total of 4124 wagons were unloaded in January, 2025 compared to 3204 wagons in December, 2024.

Further in Katihar division, 0.2322 million tonnes of freight loading across various commodities took place during the month of January, 2025 with an increase of 21.19 % compared to the same period last year. Similarly a total of 15905 wagons were unloaded in January, 2025 which is the highest in this financial year.

Improvement was also observed in other operational parameters. The highest interchange of trains with adjoining Railway zones took place on 05th January, 2025, which was 158 trains. Total interchange in January reached 4235 trains, compared to 4088 trains during corresponding month of previous year.

The continuous improvement in operational performance reflects the increasing economic activity in the region. This upward trend in freight operations has not only boosted the region’s economic dynamics but has also generated significant revenue for NFR. NFR continues to progress in freight transportation, it remains focused on technical upgrades to enhance the reliability and efficiency of its services, ensuring further growth in the future.
