The Governor of West Bengal, Dr.C. V. Ananda Bose, has extended his full support to Earth Hour 2025, a global initiative aimed at raising awareness about climate change and environmental conservation. In solidarity with this movement, the Governor has urged all government establishments, institutions, and citizens of West Bengal to voluntarily switch off non-essential lights on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
Earth Hour, an initiative by WWF, has been observed globally since 2007 and serves as a symbolic act to promote energy conservation and sustainable practices. The Governor emphasized that West Bengal, known for its rich biodiversity and cultural heritage, must take proactive steps to address environmental challenges.
“I encourage all citizens of West Bengal to participate in Earth Hour 2025. This small but significant step will demonstrate our collective commitment to protecting nature and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come,” said Governor Bose.
