Demonstrating exemplary dedication and humanitarian commitment, troops of the Border Security Force (BSF), Meghalaya Frontier, successfully carried out a critical medical evacuation from the remote border village of Hawai Bhoi, located in the difficult terrain of West Jaintia Hills district.
At approximately 1.30 PM on 30th July 2025, the Headman of Hawai Bhoi village, Mr. Phumen Shadap, approached BSF personnel at BOP Muktapur (4 Bn BSF) with an urgent appeal to assist Mr. Sanjay Shadap (45), who was suffering from Hematemesis (vomiting of blood) and required immediate medical attention. With the village inaccessible due to poor road conditions and no ambulance service able to reach the location, the situation called for swift action.
Responding promptly, BSF deployed a Bolero Camper vehicle to reach the village through challenging terrain. The patient was safely evacuated to BOP Muktapur, from where he was transferred to a BSF ambulance for further evacuation to NEIGRIHMS, Shillong.
Due to the coordinated and timely efforts of BSF personnel, Mr. Shadap’s life was saved. He is currently stable and receiving expert care at NEIGRIHMS.
This commendable action reflects BSF’s unwavering resolve to go beyond its core mandate of border security and extend vital support to border communities in times of need. From rescue operations to medical assistance, BSF continues to serve as a dependable force of protection, compassion, and national service.
