As part of sustained military–civil fusion and youth empowerment efforts in West Siang district, local military authorities at Along (Aalo) have been conducting regular Physical Training (PT), coaching and structured guidance for local youth aspiring to join various Government services. The initiative focuses on improving physical fitness, discipline, confidence and overall preparedness for competitive recruitment processes, benefitting a large number of aspirants from the region.

A significant outcome of this ongoing programme has been the selection of Shri Yumbis Ligo of Aalo as a recruit in the Border Security Force (BSF). His achievement stands as a testament to the impact of consistent mentoring, professional training and disciplined preparation facilitated under the Army-supported initiative.

To recognise this accomplishment and inspire other young aspirants, Shri Yumbis Ligo was felicitated at Along Military Station in the presence of Army personnel and local youth. The occasion highlighted the importance of structured guidance, perseverance and positive role models in enabling youth from remote areas to achieve their aspirations of serving the nation.

The Indian Army continues to remain committed to empowering youth in Arunachal Pradesh through people-centric initiatives that strengthen military–civil bonding, promote national integration and create pathways for dignified service and nation-building.

*ARMY’S CONTRIBUTION IN DEVELOPMENT OF ARUNACHAL PRADESH:*

The Indian Army significantly contributes to Arunachal Pradesh’s development by acting as a key partner in border area upliftment through Operation Sadbhavana, building infrastructure like roads and schools, supporting tourism development, boosting connectivity, aiding in disaster relief, and fostering civilian-military ties through youth engagement and welfare projects, transforming from just border security to integral development collaborators.

Key Areas of Contribution:

Infrastructure & Connectivity:

Building log bridges, improving roads, and developing tourist spots like Mayudia and Yangtse.

Operation Sadbhavana:

Enhancing quality of life in remote areas through various community development projects.

Tourism Promotion:

Supporting development of tourist sites and war memorials (e.g., Namti Valley), making the Army a partner in economic opportunities.

Youth Engagement:

Providing pre-recruitment training, assisting in Sainik School admissions, and shaping youth, strengthening civilian-military bonds.

Economic Support:

Exploring avenues for ex-servicemen in government jobs and inducting Agniveers into the state police.

Security & Stability:

Ensuring border security through specialized units like the Arunachal Scouts, crucial for this sensitive region.

Civil-Military Synergy:

Chief Minister Pema Khandu emphasizes that the Army has evolved into a vital partner, not just a security force, actively involved in tourism, connectivity, and economic growth, urging greater collaboration in civilian functions.
In essence, the Army’s presence and proactive engagement under programs like Sadbhavana are instrumental in transforming Arunachal Pradesh’s developmental landscape, especially in forward and remote regions.
