On 07th January, 2023, troops of Border Out Post Nawada and Sabdalpur, 70 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, apprehended 02 smugglers with 448 bottles of Phensedyl. The apprehended smugglers were identified as Sujan Mandal and Chandra Shekhar Mandal from Malda.
During interrogation, Sujan Mandal revealed that he had taken these Phensedyl from an unknown smuggler in Sasani village and was to cross the Border and hand it over to an unknown Bangladeshi smuggler. On the other hand, another smuggler Chandra Shekhar Mandal revealed that these Phensedyl was given to him by an unknown smuggler of Sabdalpur village and was to be handed over to an unknown smuggler in Bangladesh. But the BSF jawans had already apprehended them.
In one more incident, troops of Border Out Post Hakimpur,112 Battalion seized 200 bottles of Phensedyl from their area of ​​responsibility. The estimated value of all the seized Phensedyl bottles is 1,33,040/- rupees.
The seized goods and smugglers were handed over to Police Station Golapganj (under PS Kaliachak), Baishnabnagar and Custom Office Tentulia respectively for further legal action.
Spokesperson of South Bengal Frontier stated that smugglers try to smuggle in different ways to make their plans successful. But due to the intelligence and alertness of the troops of the Border Security Force, they could not get success, he stated.
