Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) felicitated black pottery connoisseur and Shilp Guru awardee Machihan Sasa in Ukhrul district on 15th September 2023.
Machihan Sasa of Nungbi Kajui village in Ukhrul district has contributed immensely in the field of black pottery for over 6 decades and has won numerous awards at State & National level. He is considered to be the pioneer of black pottery. Over the years, Assam Rifles has been assisting and encouraging the expertise of the individual to provide wide publicity of his unique art. As a token of appreciation, encouragement and as per his requirement, Assam Rifles handed over a washing machine to upgrade his living standards.
The villagers and the individual expressed their gratitude and appreciation to Assam Rifles for the artistry and dedication of Black Pottery artists and urged to propagate the unique product nationwide.
