Assam Rifles foiled a major cross border smuggling attempt on 28 Oct 2023 when around 52.1 Tonnes of Areca Nuts valued at approximately Rs 6.25 crores loaded in twelve Shaktiman trucks were seized and twenty four individuals who were drivers / co-drivers apprehended, in General Area Phaikoh of Kamjong District, coming from International Border towards the Indian Side. The apprehended individuals along with the seized items and vehicles were handed over to Forest Department, Kamjong for further legal proceedings.
