(District – North 24 Parganas)
BSF troops detained 33 Bangladeshi nationals from the border area of North 24 Parganas district and a total of 5 (01 Indian broker + 4 Bangladeshi) persons from Malda district while crossing the border illegally. Including three children.
In the first incident, on 13 March, 2022 at around 0100 hrs, acting on the basis of specific information, the vigilant troops of Border Out Post Gumti, 118 Battalion , detained 33 people. All those apprehended were trying to come to India illegally from Bangladesh.

Narottam Halder (30), Lata Halder (22), Munni Akhtar Priya Khan (21), Mahourma Bibi (36), Jalil Mandal (68), Aliya Mandal (45), Masuda Bibi (35), Mustafizur Rahman (37), Rizaya Begum (38), Jayanti Mandal (21), Jai Baidho (16 months), Pritam Chand Ghosh (21), Sajan Rani Ghosh (18), Jharana Praveen (30), Rafikul Islam (30), Rozina Akhtar (27) , Sharmin Khatoon (20), Ibrahim Sardar (2.5 years), Ashma Khatoon (26), Lamiya Khatoon (05), Sadan Pal (46), Rosita Rani Pal (39), Anando Kumar Pal (38), Urmila Pal (30) ), Apu Pal (11), OEC Pal (03), Mohd Mamum Hussain (30), Nasira Khatoon (28), Samrat Hussain (12), Mamuni Khatoon (06), Rahana Begum (55), Niranjan Sardar (65).
During interrogation in all the apprehended people, some of these people were coming to India for their treatment and some people were coming to India in search of work. But as he was trying to cross the IB, the Border Security Force personnel apprehended all of them.
In another incident, On March 12, 2022, at around 0715 a.m., the troops of Border Out Post, Pirojpur, 78 Battalion, Sector Headquarter Malda deployed in the border area of District Malda, apprehended 05 persons (01Indian Tout & 04 Bangladeshi Nationals). All apprehended persons were trying to cross the International Boundary illegaly.
The apprehended human trafficker was identified as Farooq Sheikh, S/o- Nurul Islam, Village- Pirojpur 2, Post Office- Dayarampur, Police Station-Raghunathganj, District- Murshidabad. Identification of apprehended Bangladeshi nationals as-
I) Nuramin Ali (26), S/o– Naushad Ali, ii) Sumayan Shaikh (22), S/o– Rabiul Haq, iii) Yusuf Shaikh (26), S/o– Akbar Ali, iv) Arif Sheikh (18), S/o- Maidul
All are residents of Village-Tiktiki Para, Post Office: Asardaha, Thana-Godavari, District- Rajshahi (Bangladesh).
During interrogation, the Indian human trafficker revealed that Tauhid Sheikh a Bangladeshi human trafficker contacted him and said that I have 04 Bangladeshi who want to come to India. He also told that he will work as a mason in Rajarhat, Kolkata. As he was helping these people to cross the border, the BSF apprehended them. Farooq Sheikh had to get a total of Rs 12000 for these Bangladeshis to cross the border.
All the apprehended persons are being handed over to the concerned Police Station for further legal action.
The Public Relations Officer of South Bengal Frontier stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict steps to prevent illegal movement across the India-Bangladesh border. Due to which people involved in such crimes are facing a lot of difficulties and some of them are getting caught, who are also being punished according to the law.
