Born on October 4, 1986, he made his first-class debut for the Railways in the 2013–14 Ranji Trophy on December 6, 2013.
On January 2020, Jonathan became the first player of Nagaland to score a double century on the final day of the Ranji Trophy match against Bihar at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima.
