Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi wants Sivasagar a National heritage site.
During his speech Assam Assembly after the question and answer on Tuesday, Gogoi said Sivasagar should first be declared as a state heritage site and subsequently national heritage and world heritage sites.
Akhil Gogoi also said “two cities of the country have been declared world heritage cities – Ahmedabad in Gujarat and Jaipur in Rajasthan and I will submit to the Assam Assembly the necessary documents required to declare the town as a heritage site”
Sivasagar was the capital of the Ahom Kingdom from 1699 to 1788.
