On 13th December, 2021, under the South Bengal Frontier, troops of Border Out Post Hakimpur, 112 Battalion apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals of the same family along with an Indian tout. They were trying to cross the International Border from the area of North 24 Parganas District.
On 13th December 2021, based on reliable information, the troops of Border Out Post Hakimpur 112 Battalion, Sector Kolkata conducted a search operation near Hakimpur Check Post on International Border. About 1715 hrs, the troops on duty saw four suspects on a bike approaching the International Boundary. These people were trying to go from Tarali to Hakimpur. The troops stopped , enquired from them about their identity and checked their identity cards. During questioning, it was ascertained that three were Bangladeshi nationals and an Indian tout. Vigilant jawans quickly took tout, including all Bangladeshi nationals, into custody.
The arrested persons have been identified as 1. Dhurba Mandal age 21 years, 2. Rupali Bodi, age 22 years, W/o Dhurba Mandal, 3. Subhashree Mandal, age 03 years, S/o Dhurba Mandal, village Sukhdevpur, Post Office Dhulihar, District Satkhira, Bangladesh, 4. Swapan Kundu, age 42 years, S/o Gobind Kundu, village Bagati, PS Basirhat, District North 24 Parganas.
During preliminary interrogation, Dhurba Mandal told that he had come to India from ICP Ghojadanga on tourist Visa in the year 2018 in search of employment. After coming to India, he went to Hyderabad. After going there he started working in Rani Digesting Company (Mahindra tractor and car parts are made). After three months, the Visa expired, yet he was working under anonymity in Hyderabad itself. Today on 12th December, he was trying to go back to Bangladesh with the help of Indian tout Swapan Kundu to Bangladesh to meet his family for which he had given Rs 20,000/- to the tout.
Indian tout Swapan Kundu, during interrogation revealed that one of his associates, Kamal Sau, lives in New Town, Kolkata. His friend had asked his relatives to drop him across the border. He further told that he was going towards the border line with these people from Tarali with him. But the troops apprehended him near Hakimpur check post.
The arrested Bangladeshi nationals and Indian tout have been handed over to Swarupnagar Police Station for further legal action.
The Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier, expressed happiness over the achievement of 112 Battalion troops, which resulted in the capture of an Indian tout, including 03 Bangladeshi nationals. He stated that this has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by his jawans on duty.
