On December 24, 2021, on Friday morning, a smuggler was apprehended by BSF with three gold biscuits while thwarting a smuggling attempt in the bordering area of Nadia district.
The incident is from Border Out Post of Ramnagar, 08 Battalion in the morning of 24 December 2021 at about 1120 in which, on the basis of specific information the troops searched the farmer returning after doing agricultural work in the ahead of the Border Fence. BSF troops recovered three gold biscuits weighing 350 grams worth Rs 17,14,130 from his possession.
During investigation, the smuggler was identified as Israt Mandal, age 55 year, a resident of Ramnagar, a border village in West Bengal’s Nadia district. Israt Mandal further revealed that today he had gone ahead of fence on the pretext of working in his agriculture fields and brought three gold biscuits from Moniur Mandal of Bagdanga village in Bangladesh near the International Boundary. He further revealed that hand over these biscuits to Motiur Mandal S/o Shukant Mandal of Ramnagar village.
The apprehended person has been handed over to the Custom Department Majdiyan along with the seized Gold biscuits.
The Public Relations Officer of the South Bengal Frontier stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict steps to prevent smuggling along the India-Bangladesh border. Smugglers keep adopting new modus operandi to smuggle. More recently, smugglers have targeted agricultural farmers witch were go for agriculture ahead of fance. In which farmers try to smuggle in the guise of agriculture. But the plans of the smugglers are foiled in front of the alert troops of BSF. Further, the officer stated in strong words that they will not allow smuggling under any circumstances.
