Bikaner- Guwahati express derails near Maynaguri, West Bengal; rescue operations ongoing

An unfortunate train accident ha happened in North Bengal, as the Guwahati-Bikaner Express train derailed near the Maynaguri town of Jalpaiguri district in West Bengal today.

The evacuation of people trapped in compartments continues, senior Railway officials have left Delhi for the accident site; an inquiry at the highest level has been ordered.

The rescue operations are underway. Railways officials have rushed to the venue for immediate assistance and assessment.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Railways is headed by Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister for Railways to the Government of India.

Danve Raosaheb Dadarao and Darshana Jardosh are Ministers of State in the Ministry of Railways.
