Mariani MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi surrenders PSO today, says “peace in Assam now”

Rupjyoti Kurmi is a senior politician of the state. He represents Mariani Constituency, Jorhat. He is from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

He has written an official letter to the Superintendent of Police (SP) Jorhat. A copy of the same is also sent to Director General of Police (DGP), Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta.

According to Kurmi, there is peace in the state now. The major issues of security are towards a gradual solution under the state government initiatives, he added.

“Under the strong and able leadership of Hon’ble CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Sir and the policies undertaken for ensuring peace and security, today our people are feeling safe. So as a sign of this, from today onwards I have personally decided to surrender my PSO.”, reads a tweet by MLA Kurmi today morning.

Recently, Kurmi was denied entry into an official government programme. He was denied by the security staff of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. MLA Bhaben Bharali was also with him.
