Cricket Association of Bengal organized the Apex Council Meeting today at Eden Gardens 

The matter relating to the hosting of the three T20 international matches between India and West Indies were discussed threadbare. 

It was informed to the members that the CAB has requested the BCCI to allow spectators at the venue. Feedback from the BCCI is awaited. CAB is still hopeful of a positive outcome. 

The Apex council approved the decision that the floodlight system of the Eden Gardens needs renovation and LED system needs to be installed at the earliest with DMX facility. It was decided that steps would be taken so that the work can progress at the earliest.

Fixtures and tournament rules for the upcoming league tournaments for both first and second divisions were approved by the members and it was decided that fixtures may be released immediately.

The registration window for the players has been extended till 28 February, 2022 keeping in mind the current relaxations accorded by the State Government so that it’s easier for the clubs, units as well as the players to come and complete their registration formalities.

It was proposed that University tournaments should be initiated now that the universities and colleges have reopened. It was decided that the association will take steps so that University cricket can also be resumed while already women’s cricket is in progress at Kalyani and the second division tournament have started today. The first and second division leagues are also starting on 16th. The CAB will also make endeavours to organise U-18 tournament in due course of time.

The Apex council congratulated U19 World Cup winning Indian team members Avishek Porel and specially Ravi Kumar for his exceptional bowling performance. It was decided that a proper felicitation programme will be held, for which the office bearers were authorised to take a decision with regard to a suitable date considering that they will be in bio bubble for the Ranji Trophy.

Today vaccination camp for the second dose for the 15-18 age group was organised with the support of the state government. All players above 15 years have thus completed their innoculation in time before the commencement of the leagues.
