“The Kerala trekker M Babu wants to join the Army. That’s the best moment..” when the rescued is inspired to follow your path – Lt Col Hemant Raj, VSM who led the daring operation to rescue Babu who was stuck on the sheer cliff of Kurumbachi hills for near about 48 hours.
Lt Col Hemant came to the limelight during 2018 Kerala floods too. He was on leave at home in Kerala when the floods hit. He donned his uniform and jumped into rescue and relief operations, saving hundreds of marooned people. Recently he was also involved with the rescue effort in the chopper crash involving CDS, Gen Bipin Rawat.
