BSF troops under South Bengal Frontier shattered the plans of smugglers and seized 450 Phensedyl bottles in different incidents from their area of responsibility in the Indo-Bangladesh International Boundary area in Bengal and apprehended 01 Bangladeshi smuggler with banned Phensedyl cough syrup. The estimated cost of the seized Phensedyl in Indian market is approx Rs 83,993. Smugglers were trying to take all these Phensidyl bottles from India to Bangladesh.
According to the statement, the incident took place on February 19 at around 0245 hrs in the area of Border Out Post Nurserypara, 141 BN , Sector Berhampur. The jawans noticed the movement of some suspected smugglers in their area. As the fencing approached, the jawans challenged the smugglers to stop. Seeing the BSF jawans, the smugglers started fleeing taking advantage of the darkness and undulated land, but the BSF jawans apprehended a smuggler. 100 bottles of Phensidyl were recovered from the smuggler. The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Ali Hussain, Father- Moslem, Village- Loknathpur, Police Station- Daulatpur, District- Kushtia (Bangladesh).
During interrogation apprehended smuggler revealed that these Phensedyl bottles were given to him by Sanatan Mandal, Father – Jatin Mandal, Village – Swaruprana, Post – Kacharipada, Police Station – Hugalberia, District Nadia. After crossing the BSF duty line Phensedyl bottles were to be handed over to Bangladeshi Smuggler Palan Mandal, Village – Loknathpur, Thana – Daulatpur, District – Kushtia, Bangladesh.
In other incidents, jawans of the South Bengal Frontier have seized 350 Phensedyl bottles from their area of responsibility.
The apprehended smuggler and the seized Phensedyl bottles have been handed over to the concerned Police Station for further legal proceedings.
At the same time, the South Bengal Frontier Public Relations Officer, expressing happiness over this success. Officer state that this has been possible only because of the alertness jawans on duty. The officer clearly stated that nothing can hide from the eyes of their jawans. They will not allow smuggling from their area under any circumstances. Further Officer also added that they have an excellent team to give accurate information related to smuggling.
