CM lays foundation stone of several developmental projects at Naharkatia

Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone of several developmental projects including an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Naharkatia, model village to be developed under PMAY-G at Namsang alongwith an Anganwadi centre in the village and Namsang Tea Estate no-2 Public Water Supply Scheme (PWSS) in a programme held at Naharkatia on 27th February.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that on completion of the ITI students of the area will find opportunities to upgrade their skills to make themselves more employable in different industrial sectors.

He also informed that the road from Moran to Digboi will be built under Asom Mala Scheme with an amount of Rs. 526 crore. Moreover, the existing road from Namrup to Duliajan will be renovated by spending Rs. 119 crore. Both the roads will be completed within 2 years, he informed. Moreover, the road from Bhadoi Paanch Ali to Jaypur will also be built very soon.

Chief Minister Dr. Sarma also said that the under construction Naharkatia Hospital will be upgraded under World Bank aided scheme. Moreover, Namrup Fertilizer Hospital will be better equipped so that in addition to the residents of Namrup Fertilizer Township, patients from nearby areas can also avail better health care facilities at the hospital.

The Chief Minister also informed that to control flood caused by Burhidihing river, a strong embankment will be built with an amount of Rs. 114 crore and construction of this embankment will start soon.

He also said that another five thousand women beneficiaries of Naharkaita would be covered under Arunodoi Scheme.

Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Rameswar Teli, Cultural Affairs Minister Bimal Bora, MLAs Teros Gowala and Taranga Gogoi were present in the programme.

The Chief Minister later inaugurated the newly constructed Guest Houses of Sasoni Merbil Eco Tourism Project, which are constructed by ATDC. The project was developed by Tourism Department and Oil lndia Ltd under its CSR initiative with active co-operation of local people. The project has been developed as an ideal destination for both domestic and foreign tourists.

Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Rameswar Teli, Cultural Affairs Minister Bimal Bora, MLAs Teros Gowala and Taranga Gogoi, Chairman of ATDC Rituparna Baruah and CEM of Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council Dipu Ranjan Makrari were present in the programme.
