Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) in association with Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana- National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) successfully launched “Samriddhi Mela” to commemorate International Women’s Day, on 08th
March, 2022 at Dighalipukhri RoaD Side Park (Opposite Lakhidhar Bora Khsetra) at 11 A.M.
On the 2nd day of the event, 81 Self Help Group (SHG) women members participated in the event and showcased their products like Mekhela Sadar, Traditional Gamusa, Decorative items, Food Items etc. Till date, a total sale of Rs. 1,58,485/- was made by all SHG members by selling their products. The visitors praised the activity and enjoyed the moment spent in the mela. Many SHG women member participated in the cultural activities like singing, dancing, drama and poem recitation etc.
A financial literacy camp (FLC) was also conducted by the Financial Literacy Councellor, Mr. Taher Ahmed, Lead District Office, Kamrup (M) delivered a valuable talk on financial inclusion and entrepreneurship development strategy. Many SHG member and Area Level Federation, which are formed combining 10/20 SHG, shared their life changing experience through the benefits of DAY-NULM, GMC. They also applauded the initiative taken by GMC for giving them the platform so that those women can come forward and contribute in different fields
of social mobilization and institutional development.
Day 2 of the event ended with a cultural show. Main attraction was Sri Mantu moni Saikia, among many famous artists of Assam.
