On March 25, 2022, under the South Bengal Frontier, the Border Security Force troops thwarted the plans of the smugglers and apprehended 01 smuggler with a car inside 138 bottles of Phensedyl. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl and the car is Rs 2,80,757/-. The smugglers were trying to take all these Phensedyl from India to Bangladesh.

On March 25, 2022, on the basis of specific information, the troops of Border Out Post Arshikari, 112 Battalion, Sector Kolkata, were alert on the International Border. Around 2310 hrs of the night, the jawans noticed a suspicious red colored Ceverlet car (Regd. – WB 02 X 6258) which was going from Pabankathi village towards Arshikari village (Border village), when the jawans stopped the car and searched, 138 bottles of Phensedyl were recovered from the improvised cavity near the rear light of the car. The troops seized all the Phensedyl bottles and also took the smuggler into custody for questioning. The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Bacchu Biswas, age – 30 years, Village – Arshikari, Post Office – Bithari, Police Station – Swaroopnagar, District – North 24 Parganas, West Bengal.

During interrogation smuggler revealed that he is involved in smuggling for a long time. This morning (March 25) he had taken all these Phensedyl bottles from a smuggler named Biswajit Shaha (Village – Arshikari, PS – Swaroopnagar) near Bithari Bazar.

After crossing the BSF duty line, which was to be handed back to Biswajit Shah. For this he was to get 1000 / – rupees. But as soon as he reached near Arshikari camp, BSF apprehended him with Phensedyl during vehicle checking.

The apprehended smugglers and the seized Phensedyl bottles are being handed over to the Police Station Swarup Nagar for further legal action.

Narayan Chandra, Commanding Officer, 112 Battalion expressed happiness over the achievements of the jawans in thwarting smuggling attempts. He stated that this has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by his jawans on duty. The officer clearly stated that nothing can hide from the eyes of his troops. He also added that he also has a great team to give accurate information related to smuggling.
