BSF APPREHENDED 6 PEOPLE INCLUDING 3 BANGLADESHI NATIONALS ON THE BORDER, HANDED OVER THE BORDER GUARD BANGLADESH DUE TO HUMANITY AND GOODWILL

On 23 April, 2022, at 0510 hrs, the troops of Border Out Post Madhupur of 68 Battalion conducted a search operation on the basis of strong input, in which 06 people including a child were detained while crossing the International Boundary illegally. Out of the apprehended nationals, 3 were Bangladeshi nationals, the rest 03 were Indian nationals. Everyone was trying to go from India to Bangladesh.

Identification of Bangladeshi citizens Mohammad Ibrahim Sardar (19), his mother, Rajia Begum (42), village–Atroi, District- Satkhira (Bangladesh) and Reena Khatoon (38), District- Bagadanga (Bangladesh). The same apprehended Indian nationals were identified as Pooja Tinku Mandal (27), his son Manik Bala (7), Raigad (Maharashtra), and Shyamal Havaldar (34), Nadia (West Bengal).

During interrogation, it was revealed that Reena Khatoon had come to India through a visa to meet her daughter Pooja Tinku Mandal but today she tried to cross the border illegally as her visa expired on 5th April 2022. Pooja Tinku Mandal revealed that she became friends with Vidyut Bala through Facebook in 2015 and married in a temple in Hindu rituals in Nadia district (India) and later started living in Pune, (Maharashtra).


During interrogation of the rest, it was found that they had come to India for employment at different times and were returning to Bangladesh. Everyone had given 2000/- per person to Indian broker Sanju Roy to cross the IB.

Apprehended Bangladeshi nationals had been handed over to Border Guard Bangladesh for humanitarian as well as goodwill gesture and the rest were handed over to Police Station Baghdah for further legal proceeding.

Yoginder Agrawal, Commanding Officer of 68 Battalion stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict steps to prevent infiltration along the Indo-Bangladesh border, due to which some people are being apprehended. In view of the seriousness of the crime of the apprehended people and due to mutual cooperation and goodwill of the Border Guarding Forces of both the countries, some of them are being handed over to each other.
