19th Convocation of Gauhati University held, Assam Governor Mukhi present

The nineteenth convocation of Assam’s prestigious Gauhati University at Jalukbari was held with high academic spirit. Governor of Assam Prof. Jagdish Mukhi was present on the occasion at the venue.

“As Chancellor of the Gauhati University, it was an immense pleasure to have attended the 29th convocation of the university. I congratulate the students who have received their degrees today.”, reads a tweet by Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi.

He adds, “I wish each of the graduating student uses his knowledge acquired here to make a difference to the lives of the people around him and contribute to the growth of the nation.”

Meanwhile, the convocation was held for conferring degrees, diplomas, and certificates to the successful candidates, of both regular and distance mode. Eligible candidates who wished to attend this had to apply online through the GU website.

Also, degrees were also conferred to the ones who earned their D.Litt., D.Sc., Ph.D., and M.Phil. degrees from this university during the above mentioned period.

It may be mentioned that, the first convocation was held on February 03, 1951 in which the Convocation Address was delivered by the first Vice-President of India, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. The Gauhati University Act came into force on January 26, 1948.
