SAILING EXPEDITION 2022 FROM FARAKKA TO KOLKATA BY CADETS OF NCC DIRECTORATE, WEST BENGAL & SIKKIM

Under the aegis of West Bengal and Sikkim Directorate 60 naval cadets comprising of 35 boy and 25 girl cadets of 1 & 2 Bengal Naval Units will be undertaking a Sailing Expedition on the Hooghly River from Farakka to Kolkata covering a distance of 410 km.

 The curtain raiser of the event was conducted at NCC Club House, Maidan area, Kolkata on 18 May 2022 in which Maj Gen Uday Shankar Sengupta, ADG West Bengal & Sikkim Directorate interacted and motivated the cadets to undertake the event in true spirit of adventure. The event will be flagged off from NTPC Farakka on the morning of 22 May 2022 from NTPC Ghat, in presence of other local dignitaries.

 The cadets will sail in three 27 feet whaler boats alongwith three safety boats from Farakka to Kolkata with enroute halts at Jangipur, Berhampur, Katwa, Nabadwip, Kalna, Chinsurah, Dakshineshwar, before arriving at Man of War Jetty, Kolkata for the Closing Ceremony on 09 Jun 22.

The team will undertake various social awareness campaigns enroute like Namami Gange, Swach Bharat Abhiyan, Tree plantation drive, environment protection, Beti Bacho Beti Padao, Digital awareness etc.
