Meghalaya Health and Family Welfare Minister, Shri. James P. K.Sangma today inaugurated the Biological Waste Management System, 10 – bedded Geriatric Ward and P.S.A. Oxygen Generation Plant at Civil Hospital, Shillong.
The programme held in the premises of the hospital, was organized by the office of the Joint Director of Health Services, Civil Hospital, Shillong.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Sangma appreciated the hard work and dedication of the medical and non-medical staff of Civil Hospital in the way they efficiently run the hospital in a systematic manner, in spite of numerous challenges. Adding that Civil Hospital, Shillong has set a high benchmark which is worthy of emulation by other District Hospitals, he stated that the inauguration of the three new facilities is an indication of the progress that Meghalaya is seeing in the state. Terming the new addition as a “new start”, he stressed on the need of replicating the same in all medical health facilities across the State.
Shri. Sampath Kumar, Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, while lauding the role played by Civil Hospital in tackling the Covid-19 Pandemic and enthusiasm shown in improving the delivery service of the Hospital, stressed on the need for a positive and contagious spirit to be shared by all medical and non-medical staff to bring about further transformations in the future. Informing that the Cancer wing in the hospital is now fully operational, he also said that with hard work and right attitude, Civil Hospital, Shillong can also be upgraded to a super specialty hospital in the years to come.
